Péter Kováts

PÉTER KOVÁTS (Violin)

Péter Kováts was born in the city of Veszprem (Hungary), where now he is directing the Dohnanyi Conservatory of Music and the renowned Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra.

As a child he won the National Violin Competition, then he was invited to continue his studies at the Franz Liszt Music Academy Franz Liszt in Budapest under Semyon Snitkowsky, the Assistant of David Oistrakh. He had the chance to study with the world-famous contemporary composer Gyorgy Kurtag, and with Sandor Devich, a member of the Bartok Quartet. Having received his master’s degree he continued his studies in the USA with Robert Davidovici.

He has toured in almost every country of Europe, and also in America and has been a soloist in major concert halls and played recitals with the finest pianists and chamber players, soloists. He is also chief-conductor of the Auer Symphony, and Director of the Auer Summer Academy. (www.mendelssohn.hu)
