RAY MAULKIN (Organ)

Ray Maulkin was born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, and studied at the Purcell School and the Royal Academy of Music.  He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and holds a BMus (Hons) degree from Durham University.  As accompanist to the Southend Boys’ Choir, he appeared in many concert venues, including those on the South Bank, and in broadcasts and recordings both in this country and abroad.

He was also conductor of the Southend Choral Society, Southend Symphony Orchestra and Rayleigh Sweyne Choral Society for several years.  Ray has accompanied the English Concert Singers on several of their international tours and in concerts in St John’s Smith Square and other prestigious venues and continues to be in demand as accompanist and choral director.

Ray is currently Organist and Choirmaster at St Andrew’s Church, Alfriston.  Together with his wife, Kathryn, he is co-director of the Lewes-based chamber choir, Pro Musica, and the all-female group, Cantilena.
