ROTTINGDEAN DRAMA SOCIETY

Rottingdean Drama Society has been going strong for well over half a century, performing plays to entertain not only the people of Rottingdean, but ever-widening audiences in Brighton and surrounding areas.

The Society’s aim is to present a balanced programme each year, including great classics, costume dramas, contemporary plays, comedies and pantomimes.  The Society was founded in 1948 and aims to perform three plays and a pantomime each year at the Rottingdean Village Hall.  High standards are sought and, over the years, entries for the annual Brighton and Hove Arts Council Drama Competition have received ten awards including recognition of the warm and welcoming theatrical environment, Best Supporting Actress, Best Actor, Best Stage Setting and three times in ten years for the Best Overall Production.

The pantomime for 2010 is Rapunzel  and the Society’s next production, in April,  will be The Circle by W. Somerset Maughan, directed by Graham Stapley.

Rottingdean Drama Society members taking part in the Rottingdean Spring Music Festival Rudyard Kipling Presentation on Sunday, February 28 at 3.00pm in the Whiteway Centre will be Terry Bourne, Elaine Eardley, Gill Lake and Graham Stapley. (www.rottingdeandramasociety.co.uk)
