ANNIE JOSEPHINE LOWER (Soprano)

London-based Australian soprano Annie Josephine Lower holds a Master of Music studies and a First Class Honours degree from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

Annie and Mattias LowerShe is experienced in opera, oratorio, concert and chamber music, having worked with several of Australia’s leading operatic, orchestral and chamber ensembles. Ms Lower’s operatic roles include Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Queen of  the Night (The Magic Flute), Cupid in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld and Le Feu/Le Rossignol in Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortilèges. Oratorio performance credits include Haydn’s Heiligmesse, Bach Magnificat and Vivaldi Gloria, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and Handel’s Messiah.

For the English Concert Singers, Ms Lower has performed as a soloist in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle at St John’s Smith Square, London and Handel’s Messiah with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Dubrovnik.  She has toured with the English Concert Singers to Istanbul in 2008 and Salzburg in 2009 where she featured as a soloist.

Ms Lower’s recent professional recording engagements include the role of Princess Jacinth in the operetta, A Queen for Sunday (Composer: Leslie Julian Jones), conducted by Iain Sutherland.

She has also made television appearances on BBC television, including as a featured vocalist on the Alan Titchmarsh Show and Songs of Praise.
