HUNGARIAN MENDELSSOHN CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
The Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra (Hungary) was founded in 1985. Their repertoire ranges from the baroque to contemporary music, and even to jazz. They have played with the finest soloists from Hungary and abroad, and have played in major concert halls of the world: Verdi Hall (Milan), Teatro Colon (Buenos Aires), St. John’s (London), Liszt Academy of Music (Budapest). They have toured in Europe and in America several times.
The MCO ensemble is often invited to various music and arts festivals in Hungary and abroad, their first CD was released on the Hungarian label Hungaroton, and after that they made several CD-s and DVD-s in Hungary, Slovenia and England, including one of English String Music with conductor Roy Wales and another of Vivaldi works: The Four Seasons with Péter Kováts as solo violinist and Gloria with the English Concert Singers, also conducted by Roy Wales.
The Chamber Orchestra generally plays without conductor, led by their artistic leader and violin soloist Péter Kováts. (www.mendelssohn.hu)
